Majesty

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Psalm 8:1, 3-4, ESV)

I had opened the first page of Revelations and looked over at the last paragraph of Jude and read about God’s Majesty.  I had spoken to my cousin about what I had read and she told me to write a song called Majesty.

The band was reflecting on how Psalm 8 begins and ends with such a beautiful proclamation in praising the Lord and acknowledging His excellence, authority, and glory over His creation. The band wrote “Majesty” to honor the expanse of God’s creation and celebrates being a privileged part of that vast creation.

Why

I wrote the song “Why” when I was 9 years old. Just about on the front of every newspaper in every nation was the picture of the Vietnamese girl running down the road naked with bombs blowing up. This moved me so I went down in the basement where I had my guitar and amps and wrote the words and music to “Why”. Over the next 50 years, the song metamorphosed.

JUDGMENT

I was with a buddy sitting at a table and some lyrics hit me. As I always do, I grabbed whatever I could, which happened to be a napkin and a pencil, and wrote the words down. As I was driving back from Alabama through Atlanta, I saw a license plate that said Romans 8. I remembered what I had written down on the napkin which lined up with Romans 8. I put the napkin in the Bible and forgot about it. About 3 months later, I was driving down the freeway and saw an old beat-up station wagon with “Romans 8” written in shoe polish on the side window. Now I know that the gentleman wrote that on the side of his car because he was saying don’t judge me but to me, it was a message to write the song, and “Judgment” was born.

Soul Cries

The song “Soul Cries” happened when I was at the K-Love music awards. Mike Weaver from Big Daddy Weave was talking. The spirit hit me and I dropped to my knees and wept.

Reborn

I had written the lyrics for “Reborn” years before I got the tune. When the tune came into my head I knew the lyrics fit.

Compassion

“Compassion” came from Isaiah 54:10. I was going through the Bible having some struggles. I prayed and felt God’s compassion and felt relief. I came to that verse from Isaiah which states that the hills and mountains can be moved but God’s love will never be moved from you.

Love is Contagious

The band wrote “Love is Contagious” in 2020, amidst racial riots, political protests, and the global spread of the Covid-19 virus. During this time, the band felt compelled to bring light and positivity back into dark times. This track serves as a reminder that LOVE can spread just as easily as hate, violence, and a deadly virus. That mindset makes this song both refreshing and vital in these trying times.
